History:
Simon de Montfort, Steward of England kept vigil in this church on the eve of the battle of Lewes on 13 May 1264. The west tower and Nave are 12th Century and the aisles and transepts are 13th Century.

Brasses:
Edward Dalyngrugge died 1386 and wife. An unusual feature of the brass is the division between Edward and his wife. Size 6ft 6" x 3ft 10". Edward fought at Crecy in 1346 and Poitiers 1356 and was given permission to build Bodiam Castle. Edward was a favourite of Richard II. The brass may also be attributed to Walter Dalyngrugge
